Modern Leadership: Visionary Business Leader and Director General, DSA UK
Susannah Schofield OBE is one of the most distinctive and forward-thinking leaders in the modern direct selling profession. A business strategist, entrepreneur, author, speaker, and advocate for flexible work, she has built a career around one central gift: helping businesses see what is changing, where opportunity is emerging, and how to lead with clarity in fast-moving markets.
Before stepping into her current role, Susannah spent 18 years with Royal Mail, rising to board-level leadership as Commercial & Innovation Director, where she led a team of 300. Her earlier commercial leadership included building a business sales team that reportedly grew from 13 people to 300 and delivered £290 million per year in revenue.
Her entrepreneurial background is equally wide-ranging. Susannah founded Dice Matrix Consulting, developed the Dice Matrix business model, created businesses in sports technology and fan engagement, launched Best in Glass, and served as Editor-in-Chief of Key Women in Business Magazine. She is also the author of Mind the Gap: Creating Your Successful Business Strategy, a practical strategy book built around identifying perception gaps, performance strengths, and hidden business opportunities.
In 2015, Susannah was awarded an OBE for her services to small businesses, young people, and women in business. She has lectured at the University of Kent and City, University of London, served as an advisor to the UK Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, and is widely recognized as a compelling voice on women in business, portfolio careers, flexible work, entrepreneurship, and modern leadership.
Today, Susannah serves as Director General of the Direct Selling Association UK & Ireland, where her work has been especially significant. She has helped modernize the Association’s positioning, expand the conversation beyond traditional direct selling, and place the DSA at the forefront of direct-to-consumer retail, digital commerce, social selling, consumer protection, and industry standards. Under her leadership, the DSA has rebranded and expanded its remit to become a stronger voice for Direct-to-Consumer retail in the UK, representing member companies with approximately £1 billion in annual turnover and around 500,000 independent sellers or affiliate marketers.
For ANMP attendees, Susannah brings a rare international perspective: part corporate strategist, part entrepreneur, part policy-minded industry advocate, and part visionary modernizer. Her work with DSA UK & Ireland reflects exactly where the profession is headed – toward stronger standards, smarter positioning, greater recognition, and a more future-ready definition of direct selling in the age of digital and social commerce.
